BASIX
REQUIRED FOR NSW ONLY
Introduced by the NSW Government, BASIX (Building Sustainability Index) ensures homes are designed to use less potable water and be responsible for fewer greenhouse gas emissions by setting energy and water reduction targets for dwellings and units.
A BASIX certificate is currently required for all new development and complying development applications associated with new residential buildings, such as:
Single dwellings
Dual occupancy dwellings
Villas
Townhouses
Unit & Multi unit developments
Alterations & additions greater or equal to $50,000
Swimming pools and/or outdoor spas with a water capacity greater or equal to 40,000 Litres
Attaining a BASIX certificate means that a new residential building has passed the Government’s target to reduce water and energy use in your home. This means you also save money on your water and energy bills.
What's next?
You will need to provide:
For us to provide you with the BASIX Certificate, we require the following information:
- Set of drawings for the construction to be submitted to council.
- DP number of the property
- Lot & house number of the property
Most other information should be provided on the plan. If anything further is required, we will contact you.
NatHERS
GET THE BEST PERFORMANCE OUT OF YOUR BUILD
The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) measures a home’s energy efficiency to generate a star rating.
The higher the star rating, the less energy needed to heat and cool the home to keep it comfortable.
This star rating measures the home’s thermal performance, based on its structure, design and materials.
NatHERS remains the most popular pathway to demonstrate compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) energy efficiency requirements. Around 90 per cent of building approvals in 2020-2021 were assessed via the Scheme. A star rating of 6 or above is required in most parts of Australia for detached homes.
